SONY SMARTWATCH 3 + SMARTBAND TALK

SONY SMARTWATCH 3 + SMARTBAND TALK

The “Smart” technology has touched every part of our lives. Can we imagine a single day without our Smartphone or the Smart TV? That’s why Sony’s vision of Smartwear Experience is based on three principles: life logging, flexible style and intelligent notifications; and the recent outcome? It’s SmartBand Talk and SmartWatch 3.

We see that Sony is going practical, rather than pretty in this wearable technology. These devices come with swappable bands and reasonable prices.

Sony SmartWatch 3 is available in Classic Black or Sport Lime color. This is one big watch with 1.6inch screen and a considerable amount of bezel. The SmartWatch 3 has GPS installed in it. It is the first Android Wear of its kind. You also get a smashing killer combo of 4GB onboard storage and a standalone walkman app. This is also the first Android Watch to stick in your Smartphone’s micro USB cable. It boasts of a 420mAh battery that is likely to last for 2 days.

Let’s now move on to its functions. The watch face shows the time, that is typical of a watch and the extra addition is the notifications that come from your Smartphone via Bluetooth. Users also received Facebook and weather alerts during their hands on.

Talking about the SmartBand Talk; it is basically a wearable e-paper screen on a silicon strap. It is non-touch and waterproof (IP68 rated). It can track your motions, like for instance; it can tell when you are going up stairs as well as the usual steps with its altimeter. The Auto Sleep detect has to be activated by a button. This SmartBand can talk, and even more interesting; you can talk to it. It is equipped with a microphone, speaker, and HD Voice technology to handle calls. It has 2MB storage and a 70mAh battery that is claimed to last for 3 days under normal usage. This device has no standalone GPS like the SmartWatch 3. It is available in colors like red, blue, pink, lime and black/white.

Sony Set to Launch Core SmartBand by Spring

Sony Mobile CEO Kunimasa Suzuki teased audiences at the end of the CES 2014 press conference by giving them a brief introduction to the Core SmartBand. Calling it the ‘…tiniest gadget Sony has ever made…’ Suzuki unveiled the product, which is said to be a simpler version of the Sony SmartWatch.  Already being talked about as the ‘life-tracker’, he revealed how it will not only record movement, but also how long the wearer sleeps, the music they listen to and the friends they are most often in contact with, amongst other things. Although the Core can be worn on the wrist in a SmartBand, it can also be worn in other wearable fabric, making it easy to transport and carry at all times. Suzuki also hinted that Sony is working with other manufacturers to discuss the possibility of creating a range of accessories to pair with the Core.

The product is able to connect to the consumer’s phone using Bluetooth and then displays the data collected via an app known as LifeLog. If the connection between the phone and the Core is lost, the latter will continue to record data within a given radius. Plans for the LifeLog app have not yet been finalised. Suzuki was deliberately vague in his details about the product, with the intention of intriguing his audience ahead of the launch of the SmartBand this spring.

Sony Alpha 7 and Alpha 7R camera review

Sony Alpha 7 and Alpha 7R camera review

Ever since Sony arrived at the digital camera business, they have been experimenting with various types of models and concepts. To name a few Sony developed the SLRs, Translucent Mirror Technology, NEX and the ones with dual auto-focus systems. There is no doubt Sony left no stones unturned when it comes to digital imaging. Sony’s latest product, the Alpha 7 and Alpha 7R will no doubt have something more exciting to offer.

Sony created full-frame cameras that are the same size as the Olympus OM-D E-M1. These are much more smaller than any other full-frame interchangeable lens camera.

It is said that Sony will be combining the Alpha and the NEX brands. This will force all the lens cameras to fall under the Alpha models.

The Alpha 7 and Alpha 7R identical to each other. The only difference is in their sensors and the auto-focus systems. The A7 models come with 24 mega-pixel CMOS, but the A7R comes with the 36 mega-pixel CMOS. The CMOS sensors do not have optical low-pass filter. You will find the AF system found on the SLT-A99 on A7 but the A7R has the regular contrast detection.

The cameras use Sony’s new Bionz X processor, supports XGA (1024 x 768 pixel) electronic viewfinder, Wi-Fi, tilting LCDs and the weatherproof body found on the Olypmus E-M1. To accommodate the full-frame sensors Sony developed new lenses. They are called the “FE-series”. It is announced that there will be initially 5 lenses and as much as 10 more will be introduced by 2015.

If you already have the E-mount lenses, they will work. However, it won’t illuminate the entire sensor. Or if you have the A-mount lenses they will also work but you have to use Sony’s adapter to make them work.
