1. Ray Dolby creator of Dolby Labs died at 80

Ray Milton Dolby the Founder of Dolby Laboratories, Inc. has died at the age of 80. He was suffering from  leukemia and on  September 12, 2013, at his home in San Francisco he took his last breath. He was the inventor of the Surround Sound used in most sound systems.

 

2. Qantas frequent flyer points can now pay for Spotify subscriptions

For those who have Qantas frequent flyer points and are not using them but love to listen music now have the opportunity to use their point to pay for Spotify Subscription.

 

3. Yahoo flickr outage – go to tumblr instead

Flickr was down for 8 hours yesterday after plan outage from 9 p.m. PT Thursday to about 5 a.m. PT Friday. Yahoo tired to get its user play with Tumblr instead.

 

4. WordPress updates fixes 3 security vulnerabilities

WordPress has released Version 3.6.1, which is an update for the security bugs. The update fixed the redirection to other sites, allowing users with Author role to create a post written by someone else and fixes the problem that lead to remote code .

Apple as already opens the Pre-Order for the iPhone 5C & iPhone 5S on the Apple Store. The phone will be available for pre-order along with a pay as and go starter pack.

Facebook is testing the News Feed auto-playing video feature on mobile phones. The feature is been tested by a selected few beta-testers. The new video auto video-playing feature is said to be rolling in the coming weeks.

Motorola has released a new hilarious commercial called the “Lazy Phone”. The advert is making fun of everyone who uses glitter and a 3d gems to customize their phones. Motorola is telling every one to stop being lazy and just customize their phone using the Moto Maker.

Microsoft has final added IMAP support to Outlook.com. The update has been years in the making has people were expecting when outlook was revamped last year.

Nokia Lumia 1520 the biggest phone in the Lumia family with the big 6-inch screen. The phone is set to arrive in November but spec are already been leaked with the newest been that it will be powered by a 3400mAh battery.

 

10. Mac OS X 10.8.5 update final here

Apple has final update it’s OS X Mountain Lion to version 10.5.5 yesterday.  This update fixes a number of issues that people were reporting such as Mail not displaying messages; improve Wi-Fi performance and many more.
