Garmin Smart watch
The leading smart watch maker, Garmin, is back with two brand new offerings from its vanity: Garmin Forerunner 220 & 620.
The Upgradations
As the name suggests, this series is specifically designed to facilitate athletic activities and thus boasts several improvements over its predecessor.
Weight: Weighing a whopping ~30g lesser than the previous 610, FR620 is surely a lighter and thus more ‘handy’. While, the lower variant is just ~12g lighter than the predecessor.
Connectivity: The FR watches boast the latest Bluetooth Smart technology, but can only be paired only with iOS devices. Other connectivity features include Wi-Fi and caching of data.
Apart from that, the devices have now been made USB-ready. So, you don’t need to go through that ANT+ interface anymore.
Perks: Apart from a GPS and ‘connected’ smart watch, you’ll also get a heart rate monitor, cadence and other sensors, embedded in the strap, which are quite beneficiary if you are into running or jogging.
The Differences between 620 & 220
The FR220 lags behind the fully loaded 620 in terms of specs, as:
- It doesn’t have a Wi-Fi connectivity option.
- It doesn’t measure the capacity of the user to utilize oxygen while exercising.
- Unavailability of Race Predictor, to anticipate what type of race can you run, & Recovery Time, to calculate the approximate time for you to rest after training.
Apart from these modifications and categorical differences, these watches have been fully loaded with a variety of sensors, to calculate each and every aspect of your workout, thus making it more efficient.
Releasing in the Fall of 2013, it is a must buy for all the budding & pro athletes.
