Sphero 2B robotic experience by PING! MAGAZINE
Orbotix is known and loved for its magical Sphero robotic balls. It barely five months since we met him and now Orbotix has decided to introduce a new and unique variant: the Sphero 2B.
This smartphone-controlled toy will have you whipping around your living room with tumbles, races and reckless joy.
A noteworthy change in Sphero 2B is the most obvious one – this one has got wheels. While the earlier version used drive systems completely contained inside sealed shells, the 2B is a remote-controlled car. This is a hell of a lot faster and the 2B can drive at over 14mph, which makes it easier to get a meter of air draft during a jump. The more traditional steering system makes it more simple to drive making the jumps… intentional.
Its ability to shred its parts makes it prepared for traction with off road tires and gives it a lead for racing with its competent tires.
Similar to its brother it is designed for open play. It comes with pre-programmed mapping routes to navigate multi room spaces. With the provision to customise your own skate park or racetrack and take advantage of new software that will feature virtual land damage and levelling it is surely lifting the racing arena.
The Sphero 2B is expected to be up for sale, in two colours black and white, by autumn of 2014, at the significantly lesser price of its brethren at under £60.
