The unique selling point(USP) for Moto X is the ability to customize the appearance of the devices to your own specifications. These includes adding your own engraved message on the back of the phone, personal greeting message along with choosing any colour you want using the Moto Maker. However Motorola has confirmed to Computerworld’s J.R. Raphael that the custom digital printing service will not be available at launch this Friday. The reason is Motorola print test quality is not up to standards for customer products. The company does hope to fix this problem and bring the much desired customization to their customers.
Dropbox cloud storage is giving away 1GB of additional free space. However to get this free space you have to link your Mailbox account with Dropbox. This is only available on iOS Mailbox and not Android.
3. Facebook Beta Update
Facebook has final introduced a beta version for android. It offers few bugs’ fixes, several handy enhancements like animated stickers for messages (Pusheen, Beast and Anooki wave). In addition Facebook home users is now allowed o control music playback right from the lock screen. This update is only available to Facebook for android Beta testers group.
4. Windows no longer supporting Microsoft XP after April 2014
Microsoft will no longer support Windows XP after April 8 2014. This will make Windows XP a security nightmare because a lot of companies are still using Windows XP Service Pack 3 (SP3). Tim Rains director of Microsoft Trustworthy Computing on August 15 reminded everyone that the “customers will no longer receive new security updates, non-security hotfixes, free or paid assisted support options or online technical content updates”. This all means that any companies or home computer still using windows XP after April 2014 will be at risk from hackers and viruses.
5. Facebook & PayPal teaming up to test mobile service
Facebook is looking to add the payment feature to their mobile app. They are planning to test a mobile – payment service that will allow consumers to pay for products via just their Facebook credentials. They will be teaming up with Pay Pal to make the credit card and billing info go through Pay Pal.
