Nokia empowering women through photos


Nokia is turning to photography to empower women by teaming up with the Thomson Reuters Foundation to launch a photography competition. The pictures taken must have elements of female empowerment themes such as: leadership, courage, passion, opportunity, innovation and motherhood.



The world’s most respected photography; journalism and women rights people will judge the photos.  Entrants have until 11th February 2014 to submit their picture to the Thomson Reuters Foundation website, Facebook page or viaTalenthouse.com


The 10 finalists will be chosen and contacted by 5th March for the final leg of the competition.   The winner will be notified by 2nd April 2014 and will receive:



  • The first Thomson Reuters Foundation–Nokia Photography Award

  • An all-expenses paid trip to attend a week long professional training on mobile journalism organised and run by the Thomson Reuters Foundation

  • A Nokia Lumia 1020 smartphone

  • Full promotion across Talenthouse’s global platform and the opportunity to have his or her work published on the Thomson Reuters Foundation’s award-winning website.
